15 best ways to shoplift (a few things I learned in work)

  1. Dressing up as a pregnant woman and putting items were the bump should be.

  2. Putting two items of clothing on 1 hanger then taking them into the changing room.

  3. 'Crotch- walking' is a technique used by woman wearing long dresses or skirts, they place the item between their thighs and walk away. (Thieves who are good at this have been knowing to steal hams, typewriters and other large objects).

  4. Going in, in pairs then 1 creates a diversion while the other shoplifts.

  5. For small items putting an umbrella with a handle on one's elbow and then dropping items into it.

  6. Simply just picking up something and walking out of the shop with it.

  7. Using a pram, things can be hid under blankets, toys, the baby.

  8. Grab and run.

  9. Hiding stuff in large pockets, coat hoods, up sleeves, in shoes and in handbags.

  10. Using wire cutters on items with an alarm tag.

  11. Putting stuff on under original clothes.
  12. Making friends with someone dodgy who works in a shop

  13. Walking to the exit with an accomplice and when the alarm goes off, throw the item into the hood of their coat and whilst they get away you get searched.

  14. Going into a shop with a gang of people and one person buys something, the shopkeeper turns his back and everyone else robs stuff before he turns around.

  15. Putting aluminium foil inside a bag to stop the security alarms going off.
